when ur doing something and you really enjoy it. give it your best shot and the results will show. do not be afraid to try n fail. it's better than having not tried and regretting. do not be bothered by the what-ifs and buts. things will work out eventually. no point worrying about things that you have no control over. instead, think about how to go about doing things the way it should be done so there will not need to be any worry at all.

recently i find myself putting to good use, my off days in sg. been attempting cmfas modules for over a month.. hope its over soon. somehow, somewhere along the line, i decided it was time for me to embark on something new. and it felt like the right time too coming to the halfway point in my contract.

i guess the opportunity to dine with peter tan was a real honour for me and it was quite a wake up call. the opportunity is out there to earn. and it is endless and bountiful. why not take the first step? i am happy if one day i can be half as successful as him. i guess it was also after that private dining when i was even more motivated then ever to one day be travelling but not working in business class.

then the dreams starting coming in.. totally crazy about the m3 now. it's like the only car to satisfy my desires.. then toto starts trickling in.. i am still ever hopeful my investment of $20 tomorrow will reap rewards enough for me to get a condo and a m3.. wahaha... good night world.. hullo beautiful dreamland... ...

today is the 24th of august.. and i turned 24 a week ago.. my little getaway holiday to 台北 had been lots of fun.. met new friends.. got drunk and learnt mahjong! haha

somebody teach me how to use skype.. i just got it =) 3 hours and 45min is seriously a first for me.. i also learnt something new.. that your call will automatically disconnect at the 2 hour mark.. i swear i havn't chat that long with anybody on the phone b4.. but it was fun.. even i felt good after chatting thru the night..

need to get my lazy ass down to start studying for my m5 on monday.. also need to hit the gym at least once.. then maybe go get myself a starbucks and hopefully get hit on my a random stranger.. LOL...

marks the day i stepped into control centre as a full fledged flight steward.. reporting to embark on my first flight to perth.

2 years on.. i've grown and learnt so much in this job. made many good friends and acquaintances. from the little 777 which took me to perth, i came back on the super jumbo 380 from london today..

looking forward.. i have another 2 and a half years to gratuity.. praying for more great rosters and fun crew =)

with reference to my previous post, i'm happy to announce that carmen has decided to return me my Munich flight! yay!! so next month will be munich, london, a short jakarta turn and 12 days of clementi camp for me.

i've managed to change the positional lights for taro myself, after watching a couple of videos on youtube. i find them too blue for my liking. the headlights are just nice and white. shall return to autobacs tomorrow to check if they accept exchanges for my used blue LEDs. shall take some pictures when i'm finally satisfied =)

another big ticket item today. bought myself a rimowa salsa air in navy blue. i hope this lasts me a long time.. looking forward to amsterdam tomorrow.. and on to albert heijn for grocery shopping!

sigh.. got awaken by a voicebox call from control and i knew my munich-manchester will be cancelled.. $1568.50 turned into 6 days of standbys in an instant.. wonder how many lucky souls are now stuck in europe smiling everyday as their allowances multiply day by day.. oh well.. things happen.. i just have to suck it up

as i read through my last post i realise a continuity.. haha.. somebody to eat dinner with and watch movies with... one step at a time.. i am also learning still =)

still gutted why i'm not stuck in paris now.. it was beautiful spring weather and had a great time with john who managed to change n change to my flight.. (pics on fb, hope the link works) first a380 solo was better than great.. haha.. maintained best galley work position on upper deck thru n fro paris. but i guess that will be one of the very few chances i get to honeymoon with 88 pax and 3 carts. narita and london coming up in may.. bracing myself for the horror of 9 carts... love the padded bunks.. super for knocking out.. hope i learn to love the plane more in time to come =)

i havn't blogged in almost 3 months. nothing significant has happened to me lately.. still jetting in and out of aussie like it's my 2nd home.. hope i get rostered for 380 SEP real soon.. then rosters will look brighter with paris and tokyo narita..

it seems i've reached a point where some batchmates are looking to or have already quit the company.. less than 2 months to end of bond. and somehow i feel my honeymoon period is over. it's time to look into what value added activities i should embark on. and really put words into action.

to start of i have so many "want-to-dos". still waiting for a class of elementary japanese to commence.. kinda inspired by a batchboy who's already doing german speaking crew scheme. want to start making money on my off days.. working on that.. wonder when will everything fall into place.. hope it all works out before mid year.

getting bored at home these days.. only if i had somebody who could go out and watch movies or have dinner with any time of the week.. i wonder where she is...

the year is coming to an end. it has been an eventful one. many happy moments to look back on. first time seeing snow fall in my life in beautiful fukuoka. that was a happy moment. drawing the curtains in the morning to see bits of snow flakes being blown around by the wind. now i understand how kids in temperate countries feel when they do the same in their first winter.

2009 is also my first full year of employment. having a job that brings you around the world is fun. getting to meet all kinds of people is a good experience. u really feel minute when u stop and think about it. i've met so many people in the past year at work (my pax), almost none of them i've met more than once. it's quite fascinating in my opinion. this has also taught me to grasp the opportunity when it comes, or stand to regret your actions or non actions. i find myself a little bit more confident with all the experience.

early this year, it was almost fairytale-like for me. being rostered for 8 days rome pattern twice in 3 months. even made a friend in a restaurant there from nepal! i must thank god for taking good care of me in the past year. rosters have been pretty decent and i've met quite a few really nice colleagues. all that said, 2009 was a honeymoon year for me. no reservist call up until next month from the 18th-29th =(. however as always i will go with a light heart and an open mind. how not to? i just got another bomb from them while enjoying myself in fukuoka. another 12 days in july from the 12th-23rd. that's 2 high key call ups in a year! they state u should not be called up for more than 14 local days or 21 overseas days in a high key year. what is this!? i can only tell myself it's payback time for all the honeymoon since ord.

despite all these, i feel there are many things to look forward to in 2010. i think i am ready for

first day of training was 13 may 08. first solo was 02 aug 08 to perth. it has been one year one month since then. time flies. along the way friends meet me and ask how is flying. i always say it has been good. and it has been. back in the first few months, it was getting used to ycl. after probation, it was finding my own style. towards the one year, it's familiarising myself with the company's famous brand of service in jcl. i'm still learning and getting used to new things every time i work. and most recently finished conversion for new a/c. yet more new things to see and learn. today is 31 aug 09. how many more years to pcl? or how many more years to a new job on ground? i wonder.

met up with batchies at vivo. had lunch/dinner at the queen and the mangosteen. wah the lamb rack is ultimate yums! super good stuff.. $29 all worth it!. the fries there is also super. duno how come can so crispy and "meaty".. then we headed over to ben n jerrys for ice cream. had yummy chocolate macadamia and chunky monkey on brownie..

decided to walk around since it was still early and it's the great singapore sale.. saw nothing in particular worth buying. stepped into challenger hoping to find the sounddock portable at a steal with freebies or something. but it's also going at $599 without carrier.. didn't buy. ended up in tangs.. had a look around for a luggage bag for mum. she wants loud and bright so i bought a pink design 25 incher semi hard case eminent for her birthday trip later this month.

donated $4 at the singapore cancer society donation box at the tangs customer service counter while waiting for my tangs card. went to toilet at harbourfront and found $2 on the floor. picked it up went for a shit. went to cheers and got a bottle of tropicana apple juice with another 50cts in my pocket. donated the change to the society for the physically disabled box at the cashier.. :)

yay! i'm looking forward to my child meal on cx.. we're taking cx to taipei at only $850 for 2 of us.. so excited! can't wait to see how their service is like and explore their aircraft:) i shall get us a room at sheraton hoping the staff prices are good.. wooweee holiday again!

thought i would be saving money this period of leave.. not even halfway through and i'v seen almost $9k fly away from my savings account within one week.. luckily not all were spent.. invested $5k and revised my portfolio of policies.. it was wise to take $5k away from the bank.. i can't imagine if it was still with me now.

was browsing sgcarmart with mum yesterday. told her to get her license soon. was looking at 2nd hand civics at only $48,000 to $51,000.. and i just realised that blue is actually quite a nice colour for the civic. today i woke up and i went back to sgcarmart. suddenly getting a 2nd hand bmw 3 series or a 2nd hand nissan gtr or a new mazda rx8 doesn't seem like such a bad idea. if i can live with like $10 every month.

suddenly i feel like buying bose jewel cubes or acoustimass systems. but house old liao, no sound proofing.. the best speakers will sound like aiwa transistor radios.

everybody arrived into the airport so happy. in fact everybody was happy from reporting. one of the easier flights and longer stays. btw flightplan is showing on channel 5 now.. damn nice.

the highlight of this trip has to be my first encounter with vomitus in the toilet. 2nd maybe that i managed to speak some basic italian with a couple. bibite? vino? vino rosso, vino bianco.. these few words gave me that sense of achievement.. haha

13 classmates turned up for the rather impromptu outing. out of nowhere, due to a certain class photo, and after close to 120 comments and a 通宵msn conference chat. we met up for dinner and stirred landfills after landfills of shit. quite sad my crush didn't turn up. she disappeared from friendster and facebook. only on msn and she doesn't come online that often. it was a successful outing nonetheless.. some of us seeing each other for the first time in 11 years!

i sat in ken's or rather ken's dad but pretty much his bmw 630i. yes, with red leather seats and that multi control knob. i really didn't want to get out of the car. pillioned on jinghui's superfour back home. super cold in berms. i have a sudden urge to get hx's contact to rent the wrx for the next outing. it was so fun driving with your friend's, stopping at the traffic light..

i'm off to rome for a long time sunday morning @ 1, will be back on the 7th. hope the wallet is cheaper there. happy to be seeing a friend whom i flew with before, the one who talked sense into me about the realities of owning a car. 5 clear days! some people don't even holiday for that long. i shall see the colosseum, trevi fountain and visit pisa to see the leaning tower and get a new facebook display pic, n then maybe go up to florence heard it's a nice place.

and i mean career. this is the best job ever la.. after meeting up with nerissa yesterday and taking a spin in her cutsey 120i cabriolet. she suddenly gave me an idea of what i can do after 5 years. i can become a mercedes-benz sales executive! how nice to be able to do something i really love and am totally crazy about and be paid 5 digits a month. get to learn advanced driving techniques and get staff prices at mercedes-benz.

she says they like to look for ex crew.. i don't know how true is that.. but it does make sense to be a sales executive with a premium car seller like mercedes-benz.. unlike the masses car dealer, u don't have to work your shit off to get 5 digits a month. customers come in and buy an s class or e class because they want it, they need it. and it's not difficult like ferrari or lamborghini where u are aiming at like 1 sale every 2 months kind.

check out the bed, i think it's like some designer stuff.. got alot of things to read about the bed and sleep on the side table.. plus an eye mask and ear plugs. the pillows super fluffy not too soft, the bed linen super soft like 10,000 threadcount

ooookay... now the tv.. that's a huge ass lcd.. by far the biggest i've seen.. on the side there are 3 apples and 5 bottled water for u

the shower is not an oblong or circular space.. it was a leaf shaped shower with rain style and handheld shower heads

the shower gel, shampoo and conditioner super nice.. super nice.. honey and vanilla, really silky smooth and soft

the bathtub has a view, but only of the tv.. lol

and of course your bed side touch screen remote control =)

i love taipei! i love sheraton taipei! i love the pretty lady staff of sheraton taipei!! although there are so many channels on tv in the room, i decided to come down to the lounge for a complimentary drink. taiwan beer of course.

i wanted to upload pictures to share.. but speeds are not very good here.. go to my facebook to see!

the feel is really different here.. perhaps it's the long holiday period during chinese new year.. perhaps it's the spending vouchers issued by the government.. anyhow our chinatown just pales in comparison.

it's still pretty cold (10-14C) so it's not uncomfortable and sticky to walk in the crowds of a new year market.. there is also much more variety in the stuff sold here.. unlike in sg where it's always those handful of food items and what not. boring. maybe it's because here the whole country celebrates this occasion

i just have to keep stressing how much i love sheraton taipei.. wahaha..

it's good why, because on the eve of cny, there it was full house in the restaurant. maybe 90% of the diners are taiwanese families having their reunion dinner. they arrive in the lobby and start wishing everybody happy new year and stuff.. no lack of festive spirit.. even as of now, the night of 初一, it's packed to the brim.

it's really refreshing to take a break from 22 years of waking up early in the morning of 初一to go 拜年at all the specific relatives' houses. i'm glad i got such a good roster to start my lunar year!

on the chilly night of 05 nov 2008. i drove a little too fast along wynau, bernstrasse. i saw a red light flash.. wahaha..

sibei chor man.. fine for 13km/h over the limit after allowance is 250chf!
speed limit for that road was 50km/h, i was running at 68km/h minus 5km/h allowance is 63km/h

just for sending 2 pieces of paper to jelupang, singapure they charge another 30chf. lesson learnt.. next time drive slowly.

winter in milan

i find the advantages of visiting a country in winter outweigh the cons. one very big pro is that it's not as crowded, off peak. it's nice to take a break from summer all year round back home, although temperatures can dip to as low as -13C. not too bad here in milan, lowest was only about -5C like now a about 23:40.

today was my last chance to play in snow but it wasn't snowing still.. even in barcelona, the weather has cleared up like magic. doesn't look like the airport had to be closed up till the day before we arrived in milan. lucky for that set. get to spend an extra 2 days in milan. $$$ wahaha.

venice was worth the trip. the architecture, the good sunny weather, the good restaurant with air sommeliers we happen to chance upon, nutella gelato and of course the endless streets of fashion boutiques.

judging from the algae marks of high tide, i think venice will suffer the consequences of global warming in several years. the residents have already moved to the second floors of their homes and measures have been put in place to prepare for the worst. it is sad an iconic city like this will be lost.

it's hard to decide which city i like best now. is it paris or milan? or is it amsterdam.. haha.. i like all of them.. it's really important who you go with. that can make or break your trip.

watched "Wanted" just now. angelina jolie was super sexy in the movie. pity she had to die in the end. damn. my last night in milan. surely going to miss it. let's pray roster is good!

it's only 6pm and already the skies are dark and it's -1C. now i know what is cold. lucky it's not windy. duomo was nice. the cathedral was awe inspiring. pictures to come on fb.

don't know how cold venice would be. i feel like popping by san siro to have a look. but i'm sure none of the girls are interested.

spotted a nice miu miu wallet at only €210. too bad i have no girlfriend to buy for =)

the view of the fireworks from the middle of esplanade drive was pretty awesome. it felt like the fireworks exploded in your face. you feel so small standing directly under the flurry of sparkles.

the girl with braces was quite hot.. she was the last hot girl i saw in 08 and the first hot girl i saw in 09. i don't know how to just walk up and take her number. i just don't have the guts.. maybe that's why i'm still one. haha

i guess one reason why i havn't been as lively as some other friends leading up to the festivities is due to work. january will be a fully packed month for me, spending chinese new year's eve to 2nd day in taipei! back to back flights without standbys. only one saturday off.. rest are on weekdays. starting the year with a dhaka turn.. that's in a few hours.

finally seen the eiffel tower.. the view from the palais de chaillot at night is really nice. shall go back in the day tomorrow to get more shots. i'm glad there's one nice senior willing to show me around. let's hope it doesn't rain tomorrow. and we'll walk to the arc de triomphe and down champs elysee. so lucky to get this long stay pattern but the weather is not very conducive for sightseeing.

la fayette is the place to shop. had a look at the taiga wallets and eugenie.. didn't buy.. didn't bring passport. instead i went h&m to get some necessities =).. le m burger was fantastic.. like the mcemmentaler in zurich.. it also has emmental cheese.. but the patty for the le m is as big as my palm and 1 inch thick.. wah superb..

i'm finally going to paris. with 3 clear days to enjoy i'm praying the weather brightens up a bit. or maybe let me see some snow flakes. praying for a good flight.

my face is exploding. suffering the consequences of 3 bags of chips over 4 nights. not enough water. what else? consequences of popping a yellow dot and another black one. yuck.

my first trip as a passenger was pretty fun. lucky it was on the 300er! used my new westone um2 onboard with a/c adapter.. i then realised the noise doesn't come from the a/c but the entertainment system itself. there's this constant buzzing if theres no sound playing. but when u start a movie the noise is negligible. and wearing your own iem is 10 times better than using the supplied headphones. never tried business class noise cancelling ones.. but if you travel in suites u get bose qc2! thats another 5 times better than my humble um2.

watched 10 promises to my dog on the ex2's 10.6" screen. really touching. the adult and child of the lead looks so alike.. i wonder how they found the actresses. listened to some tracks in the 108cd collection. disappointing. would rather listen to the ipod. the quality sounds like 64kbps. watched a bit of foster's home for imaginary friends. finally got to see what bloo is about. he's really cute. no wonder they use him as a children's toy this season. had dinner with ice cream. iv never spent more than 5 minutes to finish a meal onboard until then.

tried to rest with 2 hours left. couldn't sleep. but i found out last row seats in aft isn't that bad.. i got to recline my seat enough for my 1.89m frame to feel comfortable.
in the case of some 777 configurations, the last row seats are unrestricted unlike the ones in fwd.. plus you need not bring your seat back upright during meal service.. which is really uncomfortable for you to have your meal. nothing beats horizontal rest in the bunk.

i have now set foot on america, africa, australia, asia and europe. johannesburg was pretty okay. i was hoping it was cape town. then i would have gone sightseeing to the cape of good hope and maybe go carry lion cubs. ended up donating money to the casino at the hotel. first time in a big casino. pretty good experience. lunch at the hotel restaurant was fantastic.. i strongly recommend everyone to go try the grilled fillets of kingklip rarebit topped with melted cheese served with a special herb butter. gpgt

lost my tookit when doing the shuttle to cape town. lucky nothing important inside.. only my multivitamins and oven gloves.. first time taking/handing over a/c with pax onboard. forgot to check. sigh.. hopefully can recover it.. but i shall go make a new one in the meantime.

will lose heat

there is a very hot cup of tea, say it's close to a hundred degrees. no matter how good the thermal pot or whatever insulating container, the tea will turn cold after a long time.

without a source of heat to keep it warm, it will turn to a cup of cold tea. it will lose its flavours and appeal.

maybe it was meant to be a cup of cold tea after all. i shouldn't even have brewed it in the first place.

glad i had another sense inducing talk to with another senior girl.. i'm now not that dying to get a car. considering an average month with 1 or 2 long flights. considering the fact that it would be stupid to be taking a taxi when u have your own car parked at home. considering that i pay twice the amount of insurance as a 27-30 year old. even if i could well afford it. i would rather, like what she said, be happily treating once in awhile, buying drinks and making my friends happy. rather than having to disappoint an occasional ask out for a meal because i would be particularly "tight" that month having a nice car to pay for.

while my some of my peers are still in school not sure of their future, others are out working but not earning as much for a start. this is a fact. however i think i have another friend living in delusion as ever on his way to earning millions just by talking to people.

i must learn how to handle this big jump from ns days where i could survive just as well with $560 a month. it's really quite scary at times. almost got myself a gucci laptop case, lucky there wasn't the right size for my mac. i tell myself as i listened to the senior girl, coming from a management position before flying. i say i do not have a girlfriend now, no house, no commitments. why would i struggle with a car? if i want it i must do it now when i am still young. not when i'm 30 looking to settle down and start a family. a car will drop right down to the very last on my list.

she told me, soon enough i will find myself spending a fair bit of my allowances on branded goods. "once you have felt an lv, a gucci will always feel 2nd grade, but for better designs" i really couldn't relate to that phrase. never owned an lv in my life. you earn this much. you spend this much. i feel the most important is for me to know my limits and live within my means. an occasional treat for myself is fine. i'm just wondering what my next treat will be.

so many kinds of people. all earn about the same but some will scrimp and save every bit. some will splurge and say you never know what will happen tomorrow. i wonder which side am i from.

on the way home the senior guy was telling me his experiences. about his batchmates who got together after 3 days in the course. girl left guy for 2 bars who had a car. moment of anger led guy to go buy a car and now struggling. lol. so materialistic. once again confirms my perspective on some girls. senior girl tells me. it's not just here. it's everywhere! where to find the down to earth, sweet and demure girl, the perfect one. haha

just a random insulting incident shared by the senior guy. 2 bars tried hooking up this girl who was already with a blue tie. girl said no, i'm already attached. 2 bars asked who, 4 bars? girl replied no, blue tie. 2 bars tells girl "you want to travel in economy for the rest of your life?" pardon me for all the weird terms. but i think you guys know what i'm talking about.

had 2 girls from la mer in my zone on the way home. one was really pretty! the other played cooking mama on her ds like a mad woman. job opportunities are everywhere when you work in this line. when you meet high ranking people in big companies. it is always good to talk with them. get to know more. you never know when your day might come with a little help from these people. this the super nice puple tie told me. good pattern on the whole. so much more to share but if i go on this post will never end. =)

ice mountain

only a couple of climbers have managed to conquer this mountain. in my opinion, it is the most beautiful mountain in the whole world. it is not only me. many people who live in the same village often talk of its stature and grace.

of the villagers who dare to attempt an ascend to the ice caps, many have often been turned away at the halfway mark by strong winds and the harsh cold. it almost seemed as if the couple of climbers who have managed to conquer the mountain had some sort of divine intervention, as if the mountain had assisted them and protected them through to the top.

i have been in awe of this beautiful mountain ever since i first set my eyes on it. i never really had the courage to climb. i think i am just not fit enough to survive the harsh conditions up there. deep in my heart, i so dearly want to experience the joy, the happiness and satisfaction upon conquering it. im so jealous of the few who have seen the world from the top of the ice mountain.

now that the weather is unsuitable for climbing, the mountain has been cordoned off by the authorities. i find myself pacing up and down at the foot of the mountain. my heart says go, but my mind just can't focus. i never know when it will turn better. i never know if i can ever set foot on the top of the ice mountain.

i think i will wait for you.

met er yi n uncle bok to have dimsum brunch followed by a drive around the mindarie suburb and ocean reef road. got to see the huge house in mindarie keys facing the indian ocean. what a view.. beautiful place.. but i decided to leave my camera at home thinking perth was a boring station. so npnt.. went kayaking in the cove to the breakwater where you can see the reefs underwater. the waters were a little bouncy so i decided to head back and watch a docu-video about shaolin in the av room in the basement. everything was nice but it would have been even better with a bose set up and a hd projector. nice! had dinner in another chinese restaurant in joondalup and then i was sent back to hotel. nice toyota aurion 3.5 btw

perth is seriously a place for retirement.. i found out that lg(ret) winston choo also living in the area.

it's not easy

i am as blur as whatever now.. but reading through some old entries just made me a little jealous, a little more confused than i already am, and a little annoyed and angry at some bastards who don't deserve it.
there is something else but it's special.. it can only be used for special occasions imo.. fighting for your heart's desire truely takes more effort than serving 2 choices of meals on board. a random theory i just thought of is that in the wild, the hunting is done by the lioness and the lion just sits under the tree waiting for food to be brought back. i guess that is the leo in me. only knows how to talk big but doesnt know how to do things.. sigh.
if only i could bring back the passion that i had which saw me play my way to u16s and u19s
if only i had as much knowledge as i have on cars and what not

it was quite a nice place on the whole, but there isn't really much to do unless you go and visit the museums and play in the amusement park in tivoli. food is fexpensive there. i spent SG$20 on a kfc meal and a little more on thai food. a bottle of juice <300ml costs SG$5.

totally miss the weather. tried cycling in the wind at 10C in the morning to go see the mermaid. it is really nothing much.. just small statue.

on the way up it was a smooth journey. very peaceful and made friends with charlotte, 14 month old baby.. she's been carried around the plane by almost all the stewardesses n myself.. no crying no screaming, just throws her arms at you when you want to carry her.. heavy but cute.. haha. and i finally experience christmas tree on the way back. tsktsk.

other than closing the door in singapore and opening it in another country, i find another interesting thing about the job. normally people go to work and have a morning breakfast break or tea break and then followed by lunch and it's knock off. but where do you have lunch followed by breakfast and then knock off. unless you decide whatever the meal is la.

further roster is out, going back to auckland end oct but this time without the standby thank god. long flight to amsterdam, yet another fexpensive place.. sigh.. but looking forward nonetheless :)

how is everyone?

it has been a little over a month since i started flying. so far so good i would say. albeit the many turnarounds stuffed into my "junior's roster" it's true what the trainers say. this is the job where you learn to grow up very quickly. you will see so many kinds of people, luckily most of them are pleasant people.

next long flight is to copenhagen. then heading down to perth to see my aunt and then dubai a little later. there is still much more out there for me to explore and experience.

mum's talking about using my name to get a new place. she'll clear the dp and i will have the apartment. that's a much better acquisition than a car which i so badly want to get after having so many little chats with senior fs. i think i'm still financially unsettled. plus this job is based on 12 month averages. sometimes you get a bit more, sometimes you get a bit less. maybe a house is too big an investment so soon. but a car is a liability. i guess we'll see how in a few months.

couldn't finish watching aquamarine recently on tv in auckland. just finished watching it. typical girly movie but i like the starfish.

off to colombo tomorrow morning and will be back for the little mid autumn gathering with the gang at night. it's 0000 and good night!

started off my duty reporting late. misread the roster but lucky to have caught the flight. first long flight was nice. learnt a lot on the new 777-300er. i love the bunks.

wanted to save some $ during this trip. however it is my first trip to europe. how can i not go sightseeing in such a beautiful country. after some advice from seniors, i decided to join a tour with the fo and 2 other fss. CHF 147 spent. although a tad expensive for our standards, i did not regret the trip. the weather was perfect and i felt snow for the first time. it wasn't snowing as it is summer now. but the mount titlis where we went had ice caps.. it just feels like plenty of shaved ice on the ground.

total hotel bill was CHF228 including 3 calls home to cancel my sim card :( yes, i misplaced my brand new g900! i only spent a little over CHF300 for this trip. come to think of it. what the seniors said really makes sense.. people pay $2000 over just to take the plane there. 钱花了可以在赚回来的。

the air was good, the views were spectacular, the whole experience was very nice. i believe my next trip there if i get one, i will take the train to geneva.. and i can see the united nations and all the other big buildings. let the photos and video do the talking. i did not take my camera out on the 2nd day though.. the lake was beautiful!

btw, CH stands for Confoederatio Helvetica.. it's quite interesting how this abbreviation for switzerland was derived. go read up!

i still remember some time back when i was still in school. we had a leisure and parks management module. we had a field trip to the airport to learn about the indoor horticulture.

there i was listening attentively to the guy introducing the thousand-over-dollar temperate fern trees. a group of ladies walked past us in twos. the unmistakable blue eyeshadows and blood red lips.

tomorrow it is my turn to walk with the group of ladies. who knew then this was going to be my job? maybe there was the slightest idea but, then it was all day dreaming about cars.. buying scratch it tickets.. dreaming about being a naval diver/pilot/commando in ns (at least i was a cdo for 3 months.. lol)

i shall make more friends from korea, hong kong and japan. i will widen my social circle and learn new things :D

i just hope little kingdom will wake up and little citizens put in their little bit of effort in learning the ropes. i hate to see bad weather everyday. it's affecting other innocent and fun loving little citizens. some are just not putting in the effort to change. this is selfish. we are in, we are in it as one. we stick together as one no matter what happens!

truth is that is so remote in reality. what i can hope now is that the innocent and fun loving citizens still have the patience and perserverance to go all the way to become the BEST.

things don't always go as planned. things don't always turn out to be perfect. but we have to learn to live with it. if not life will suck.

i'm glad i have better articulation and more varied intonation when i speak in plain english now. i'm constantly watching out for subconcious use of formal or colloquial english. i'm glad i was taught the phonemic chart. now i can hao lian to friends.

i'm happy to have learnt a little bit about etiquette. i felt like a model sashaying down the dance studio. wahaha. maybe it's age, maybe it's inexperience in "certain areas of life" i cannot control blushes.

i'm sad some things have happened when they shouldnt. but i hope this is just a small pebble in the way. things are generally still very bright. just keep doing the right things that's all.

i got stained by tar

1 and a half years of jail term in that shit well has stained me quite abit. like tar. sticks to u and it's hard to get it off. oh well. maybe stained is quite a strong word to use, but who cares? i really hate that place.

i got a comment on my hair length today. this time it is something i've NEVER and COULD NEVER HAVE possibly heard in my 1.5 years there! my hair was too short. i was advised to keep a more civilised hairstyle with real hair on the back and sides.

it's not their fault seriously, but i just want to blame somebody. for 1.5 years i was constantly terrorised by a group of useless plain childish imbecile underachieving slobs and fucking losers, to keep my hair length to the bare minimum. for whatever reasons i don't really care now.

i have to learn and get used to a new standard of grooming. which makes more sense to me in every way. now does anybody have a good recommendation for a start other than toni & guy?

one last day before embarking on the start of a 4 month journey to becoming a full fledged cabin crew.

as expected this times are filled with anticipations and worry about this about that. as commonly said, its all only hearsay until u personally carry out anything at all. i've been living on loads of hearsay from here from there. sometimes even questioning if this is the right path to take now. theres no turning back now. i am still very optimistic about the future. i will make the most of my initial choice and not let little setbacks hold be back.

company policy states no blogging or whatsoever. it's just like where i just came out from. i wonder how all the pictures found their way to the net anyway. theres always a by left and a by right way of doing things. lets hope what little i have learnt in my 1 and a half years there will help me along the way.

i predict i will have much lesser time for stuff like these. travel will be a chore as i spend about one-sixth of a day on the roads. classes will take up about two-fifths of my day for six days a week. that is why i hope to get together with my mates on sat nights.

okay then. one final deep breath and we go all the way!

it isn't exactly a "definining moment" in my national service. it was just breakfast with the sergeant major of the army. the brassard on my right arm was an invitation for him to sit with me in the humble newly renovated 5 SIR canteen.

it is nice to chat with people like him. people who are much more senior than u in terms of age and experience. people with real experience in life. unlike certain individuals who don't behave their age. i wasn't quite in the same wavelength as SMA in our random chat. i guess i havn't got the same repertoire of life experiences as him. he asked me what was the defining moment in my service. i had to mention "easy to mention" events like the grenade throwing and the gpmg range.

i didn't really want to start a long story of how i was enlisted in prc rather than bmtc and so on. that was really the defining moment of my national service. i miss my first 2 months of ns. we went on to talk about more "out of my range" matters like man management and in this case, soldier management. my future job and what i studied in school.

it was just a short casual chat but i got to learn so much from him. i hope i can speak with substance like SMA in the future, and not become some useless plain childish 33 year old underachieving slob.

finally i leave a jay gee sale happy. this time round instead of the humid warehouse at genting lane, they have rented a proper ballroom in suntec. with aircon, browsing for clothes was much more joy. this time they also have more new and rare series and more stuff from aigner and mexx. too bad i cant afford some nice aigner shoes going at just $320.

finally got a decent pair of straight cut jeans, type 101 levi's copper $149.50 @ $75. a slim cut shirt from mexx $99 @ $59

mum's bonus spent on some new sheets for my bed from aussino country line. my previous was from the sino line. this fitted sheet is 260 tc while my other khaki one is 225 tc. the difference is quite significant. sadly though, there arent any "colours" to share my new bed with.

i drove jason's mitsubishi lancer EX 2.0GT! huge 18" alloy rims and low profile tyres gives the car a sporty outlook with superb handling and feedback. i like the quality of the interior finishing. one look and you can tell it was assembled in japan and not thailand, as compared to the altis. however that is an unfair comparison, one being 1.6 litres and the other 2.0 litres. (i'm having high hopes for the latest facelift altis, looks good!)

priced at $79,988, the lowest recorded price in the past 6 months was $74,988 (according to sgcarmart). for that price tag you get quite a bit of stuff in there. immediately you will notice the Rockford Fosgate sound system with 9 speakers. a reasonably sized woofer in the car boot which takes up about 10% of the space, and over in the front, there are two discreet tweeters integrated into the front doors.

the car works on keyless operation and that was rather cool, however it is a standard with all the variants of the mitsubishi lancer EX. other stuff include factory fitted HID lamps and paddle shifters. i especially liked the lcd display in between the speedo and odo. it shows a graphic representation of your fuel tank and when doors open you can see which one it is. all these are "very german", more likely to be found in a merc or bmw.

nice car! i must say, but your bank has to be just as nice to buy that. for now i shall still look at possible 2nd hand stepping stones under 40k.
hope to drive it once or twice more get a better feel of it before i leave. :)
